Gold Seal Support London Probation Learners

Following a mass of experience in successfully working with people who have not traditionally engaged with education or employment Gold Seal approached London Probation to see if we were able to further extend our remit to help those involved with London Probation learning schemes and offered a 30 hour accredited course under OCN syllabus which covered making music and sampling techniques.

The course was well attended with attentive, motivated learners that were eager to explore and gain useful information on new and emerging music technology practices. The course ran for 10 weeks at London Probations largest site in Europe with mobile workstations and all who completed the course now have the opportunity to further their learning locally in Stratford using a variety of further education options as well as look to progress into employment and plan music careers around their skills learnt to date.

All who attended worked hard and are testament to the program's core aims which are to empower learners to feel motivated by a new and emerging practices, identify transferrable skills as well as better themselves using music as a vehicle to engage and progress from.

With lots of positive, constructive feedback we are excited about being able to get more workshops running and look to the future where more learners will be able to reap the benefits of Gold Seal music technology training else where across the capital at London Probation sites.

DJ B Supports east London DJ's in the making

Following a string of successful workshops at east London's Haggerston Youth Inclusion Project, during summer 2009, young people gathered to learn new mixing and DJing skills using a brand new mp3 DJing workstation at the Kingsland Road base for young people in the Haggerston area.

All who attended gained valuable tuition on setting up a DJ's workstation, tips and tricks on various mixing practices and scratching as well as how to record your own mixtape for demos etc.

The workshops were a hub of creativity and all the young people involved commented on how they felt the DJing allowed them to explore music in a new format.

The grand finale saw young people going to top east London venue The Vibe Bar on Brick Lane where they went back to back with 1xtra RnB DJing sensation DJ B who has supported acts such as Kano, Kanye West, Wiley and many many more. The two hour mix was recorded and has been used to help promote the young people looking for jobs and extra DJing work.
